Saved. Salvation. Born again. In today’s politically correct clime these can be potentially arrogant and foolish words to utter let alone adhere to.
But nonetheless Jesus came to die for your sins. His claims either equate Him with God or are the ravings of a madman. There is no middle ground.
‘All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.’ Romans 3:23
Romans 6:23 takes it further, ‘For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.’
Humor me to use a rudimentary analogy to explain the wound left by sin. As a young person let’s say you liberate a twenty-dollar bill out of your mother’s purse without her consent just as you walked out the front door. When you leave you turn and see the pain as she realized her child just stolen from her. It wouldn’t matter if you had a hundred dollar bill in your pocket to replace the money, it could not purchase the trust you had just forfeited.
God knew our nature after the fall. So He made a way. Jesus hung on a tree and became the curse that scourged us to hell for eternity.
He basically made a switch.
And when we receive Him into our hearts and accept the sacrifice, the Bible says we are saved. We become the righteousness of God or in right standing with God and He doesn’t see our sin anymore.
He sees the sacrifice made by His only Begotten Son.
Romans 10:9-10…‘that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.’ He died in our place and then demonstrated God’s power over death by rising from the grave.
Very simply when we believe this and confess Him as Lord the Bible unequivocally states we are born again. You become a new creation literally according to 2 Corinthians 5:17.
You are not guaranteed tomorrow. The Bible says ‘Today is the day of Salvation’. Don’t put it off until another day. If your house were burning you wouldn’t want to wait and try to take care of it at a more opportune time.
It’s a simple prayer but the most life changing, literally.
Pray this with me: Jesus, I believe you died on the cross for me to pay the price for my sin. Forgive me for my sins. I believe You were resurrected from the dead and are alive! Come into my heart, rule and reign in my life from this day on.
If you have prayed this with me then according to Acts 2:21, ‘Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
